What's growing on the hill?

Pinot Noir

Besides the typical elegance in the perfume, the wine grown on this soil exhibits a darker color, flamboyant tannins, and attractive minerality. Gallantry in the bottle.

Gewürztraminer

After experimenting with different vinification methods, we opted for the orange Gewürztraminer wine style. The best expression of this varietal, when grown on this hill, with this climate, offers a dry wine with succulent body, reminiscent of the late-summer flowers the bowtie hippie would keep dry between the pages of The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, and Sagrantino

Each of these are planted to produce one barrel of wine.

Sangiovese

The selection growing on this hill is a pair of VCR 5 and VCR 6 (of Montalcino origins, also know as Sangiovese Grosso, Brunello etc.) The plants seem very happy. It's a pleasure to talk with them. The spot of their life is where the soil is even thinner than the rest of the vineyard. The plants' roots are definitely enjoying living in the fine rocks of Sarnena Sredna Gora.

Cabernet Franc

Graceful, yet capricious. We are still exploring each other.

Sagrantino

Simply put - A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! It's an Allegro con Brio for this varietal. It loves its place on top, dancing down to mid hill. Rooted into lime rocks and sandy clay rock, the ankles of these vines are wrapped into south facing thyme, yarrow, St. John's wort, and ground-pine, and above them the strong arms carry, as in a miracle, a sacred juice loaded with tannins, sugars, and noble vigor.
